Gallery X invites artists and members of the community to submit work and queer ephemera that honors the joy, hopes, struggles, lives, and stories of the LGBTQIA+ community on the South Coast. How do we honor the queer ancestors who came before us to pave our path? When the world turns toward darkness, how do we let our joy shine?
Artists may submit up to three pieces, both 2D and 3D are welcome. Video work will also be considered. Artists will also have the opportunity to opt in to having their work travel over the next two years in collaboration with DATMA’s Being Seen exhibition to several regional locations.
We are also seeking historical queer ephemera and memorabilia specific to the South Coast area. Do you have any posters, pins, bar coasters, clothing, photographs, and artifacts that celebrate the stories and joy of the Queer community? We want to show them off!!
Work and artifacts can be dropped off at Gallery X from May 28 through June 8. Thanks to the sponsorship of New Bedford Creative the submission of artwork is free for those who identify as LBGTQIA+.
Submission Guidelines and Info
This is a non-juried show, all artists and media are welcome.
• Submission Fees: FREE for Queer and/or BIPOC artists (self-identified). All other non-member submissions are 50% off; $7.50 for the first piece submitted, $5 for each additional piece, maximum of 3 pieces. As always GX members submit work for free!
• All forms of media are accepted; 2D, 3D, photography and video art welcome!
• All work must be ready to hang and include proper hanging attachments (wire, sawtooth hanger, etc.). Pedestals are available for any three dimensional work.
• Gallery X handles all sales and retains a 35% commission on any sale made by non-members. Members are subject to 25% commission on works sold. Works do not have to be for sale to be included in the exhibition.

Looking to save time? Print your submission slips ahead of time and have everything ready to go when you bring in your artwork! Please note if you are printing your own submission slip you must use the file below and bring 2 copies to the gallery (1 that will be attached to the piece and a 2nd that is given to the gallery attendant).
No printer? No worries… We have printed submission slips ready and waiting in the gallery!
