Gallery Sitting Credits/Discount Explanation (Effective May 11, 2022)
Members who gallery sit will receive a $20.00 credit for each of the first 4 days they sit during their membership year, up to a credit of $80.00. Sittings in excess of 4 will be credited as $10.00 each.
Members who sit a minimum of 8 times in a calendar year will go into a drawing for a one year free membership.
A gallery sitting credit is equal to one 3 hour sitting ‘shift’.
Credits received for gallery sitting will only be applied to that member’s next dues renewal and will not be paid out in cash or check.
If the value of a member’s sitting credits equals or exceeds the cost of that member’s dues renewal then the renewal is completely free for that year.
Sitting credits earned reset each year after the member renews.
All Individual, Family, and Emerging Artist Members are eligible to be credited for gallery sitting. Patron Members and Youth Artist Members (accompanied by a parent) may be considered for gallery sitting on a case by case basis.
Things to keep in mind
Between weekends, AHA! nights, and the occasional rental event there are approximately 100 days that the gallery needs member coverage in a year.
Gallery sitting is a great way to save money on your gallery membership and support the gallery’s programming. 15 different members sat at least once in 2025 and earned discounts for their 2026 dues renewal, 5 of them sat 8 or more times and were entered into the drawing for a free membership renewal. 3 of the 5 earned enough sitting credits to reduce their membership dues renewal to $30 or less.
While gallery sitting you are free to read a book, work on your art, watch a movie, etc. Feeling really adventurous, there is always dusting, sweeping, and cleaning to be done!
If you have never sat or haven’t sat in a while, feel free to pair up with another member (you’ll both receive credit).
