Call for Art!

Gallery X invites artists to submit works in all media to Queer Futures, a Pride Month exhibition about our community’s dreams for the future. We welcome visions of utopia, the fall of empire, queer sci-fi, solarpunk, works inspired by Afro- and Indigenous Futurism, or visualizations of personal hopes and dreams. Broad interpretations of the theme are welcome. You don’t have to be LGBTQIA+ to submit, although queer and/or BIPOC artists are highly encouraged to show their work! Thanks to the New Bedford Cultural Council, submissions are free.
This exhibition is open to submissions from all artists working in any medium, work may be submitted during Gallery hours or by appointment beginning May 6. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, May 17. When submissions are brought to Gallery X the artist will fill out a submission slip with basic contact and labeling information.

We are also seeking queer local artists to contribute to a special installation, the Queer Futures time capsule, a vessel full of artifacts, objects, and messages from our imagined queer descendants 500 years in the future. Submission Guidelines and Info
This is a non-juried show, all artists and media are welcome.
• Submission Fees: FREE! Thanks to grant support the submission fee has been waived for all artists.
• All forms of media are accepted; paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, etc.
• All work must be ready to hang and include proper hanging attachments (wire, sawtooth hanger, etc.). Pedestals are available for sculptures, three dimensional work, or jewelry.
• Individual works from one artist may not all hang together, if your submissions are part of a series or diptych/triptych please make note of this when submitting.
• Sale of submitted work is optional. Gallery X handles all sales and retains a 35% commission on any sale made by non-members. Members are subject to 25% commission on works sold. No POR.

Please note if you are printing your own submission slip you must use the file below and bring 2 copies to the gallery (1 that will be attached to the piece and a 2nd that is given to the gallery attendant).
