Call for Art!

Gallery X invites artists to submit works in all media to Queer Futures, a Pride Month exhibition about our community’s dreams for the future. We welcome visions of utopia, the fall of empire, queer sci-fi, solarpunk, works inspired by Afro- and Indigenous Futurism, or visualizations of personal hopes and dreams. Broad interpretations of the theme are welcome. You don’t have to be LGBTQIA+ to submit, although queer and/or BIPOC artists are highly encouraged to show their work! Thanks to the New Bedford Cultural Council, submissions are free.

Not sure what to submit? In need of more inspiration or clarification? Got questions? Reach out to the curator at beatrice.g.alder@gmail.com.

We are also seeking queer local artists to contribute to a special installation, the Queer Futures time capsule, a vessel full of artifacts, objects, and messages from our imagined queer descendants 500 years in the future. If you are interested in being part of that project, please e-mail the curator at beatrice.g.alder@gmail.com for more details.
