Over 300 Works Shown at the PHXXI!

The 21st Public Hanging was a major success! Gallery X is proudly displaying over 300 works by a massive range of artists, both local and long distance. The artists' contributions engulf the gallery's walls in a visually overwhelming two floor collection of sculpture, oil and acrylic paintings, photography, and prints among a handful of other various mediums. The Public Hanging was curated by Swain alumni Don Wilkinson, Charles Hauck, and John Nieman who solicited work from work by other Swain school alumni and faculty to be on display for the Swain Alumni Reunion that took place in New Bedford this year.

T-Shirts with the PHXXI postcard image by Nik Ukleja are available for purchase in our store.

Visit us at Gallery X and feast your eyes upon the 21st Public Hanging.
You can see more photos from the show on our Facebook page.

Don Wilkinson

Mr. Wilkinson has two oil on wood works in the 21st Public Hanging. Both pieces reference familiar works from art history and popular culture, while offering potent wit combined with a colorful blend of visual style seldom seen today. Don seems to push the boundaries within himself and capture the complexities of appropriation both visually and mentally in a beautiful way. Don's eye for the visual and intellectual aspects of his craft shine through in two creations on view at the PH XXI entitled, "Ika Dreams of the Fisherman's Wife" and "Word of Leda Got Around." Come to the 21st Public Hanging and check him out! You will be rewarded with a sense of excitement and humor upon viewing these masterpieces.

THE GALLERY X NEWSLETTER IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE A NEW MONTHLY FEATURE ABOUT ARTISTS THAT SHOW THEIR WORK AT GALLERY X. EVERY MONTH, AN ARTIST WILL BE CHOSEN AT RANDOM AND THEIR WORK WILL BE DISCUSSED BRIEFLY.
