Closed But Still Working
Gallery X is closed for the month of January to save on costs. We like to take this opportunity, while things are quiet, to spruce up the place. We've been scraping and painting walls, cleaning out the cupboards, and putting things in order. Members, we always need more help and will be at it again this Saturday from 11 to 2pm, so please jump in and lend a hand! |

Sex at the X
Our Erotic Art Show Sex at the X returns in February to warm up your winter! Our erotic art show made quite a splash when it premiered 2 years ago. Now we are getting ready to do it again. This show gives artists the opportunity to display work exploring the many ways we experience that connecting pleasure and eternal mystery that is central to being human. We anticipate a very interesting show! Robert Siegelman will jury the show and Melanie Ducharme is curating. Show Dates: Feb. 3–27. Opening Reception: Saturday, Feb. 6 from 7–9pm. Drop Offs: Jan. 27–31 during gallery hours. More Information |

Good News! The Island Foundation has awarded us $15,000 for operating expenses for the coming year! That is slightly more than we need to cover our 3 member gallery team. Their board had quite a discussion about our new administrative model (the team approach). They hope it can be a demonstration model for other organizations if we can make it work. Denise Porche of the Foundation is very supportive and wants to see us continue to do well. The Island Foundation board wishes us success and will be watching to see how we do. As Nilsa said "Let's show them we can make this work." |
