Artist's Statement

I have been drawing pictures since I was a child. As a teenager, I realized that my path had been set and there really was no choice: I was to be an artist. Although I consider myself to be primarily a landscape painter, my work also takes place in the urban environment: I love to create pictures of massive crowds of humanity in great detail. As for influences: Rembrandt, Roberts, Constable and all of the Impressionists. I draw my strength from the creative force.

In the past, I aspired to create on a grand scale; I could have painted my pictures on the interiors of cathedrals. But as I grew older, I sought to compress my vision down to a miniature version: I can now carry an entire show in a suitcase. If you look close, you will see that the scheme is still the same. It is still grand but just on a more controlled stage. In the end it is the need to create a body of work that will out live my physical presence. I create for those who are not yet born and even beyond: for their children's children.
